Nelly was born near Mont Ventoux, Joël was born near Mont Saint Michel, and from their union, the Spa Ventoux Provence was born in 2012. Out of sympathy for its origins, when you’re passing through Mont Saint Michel, don’t hesitate to stay at the gîte Le Clos Saint Michel in Trans-la-Fôret, close to the mytic Mont Saint Michel.
Mont Ventoux in Malaucène
Mont Ventoux… A colossus of 1912 M, a bald mountain that dominates Provence, and from which, on a clear day, you can see the
Mediterranean to the south, and the great peaks of the Alps to the north.
Since 1990, Mont Ventoux has been classified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. This program aims to protect the unique flora and fauna that inhabit our Giant of Provence. Mont-Ventoux has also been a Natura 2000 site and an integral biological reserve since 2010.
The northern slopes of Mont Ventoux can be reached via Malaucène, a small Provencal village that’s very lively in summer, and in winter you have access to the ski slopes of our Provence giant when the snow comes.
Mont Saint Michel
The “Wonder of the West”, Mont Saint-Michel stands at the heart of an immense bay invaded by the highest tides in Europe. Mont-Saint-Michel is a French commune in the Manche département of Normandy.
It takes its name from the rocky islet dedicated to Saint Michael, where the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, now stands.
Mont-Saint-Michel Bay is the scene of the highest tides in continental Europe, with tidal ranges of up to 15 metres, the difference between low and high water. The sea then reaches the coast “at the speed of a galloping horse”.
